We went to Chapel Hill right before the holidays to meet up with my husband’s family and we tried a new-to-us restaurant, Kipos Greek Taverna. Y’all, what a fun spot! I wish it was summertime because the patio is insanely cool! It is huge and has the most amazing eclectic decor and plants draping everywhere.
Kipos Greek Taverna
Decor
When we walked inside we were not disappointed either. The interior is modern and a bit rustic, light and bright, but at the same time cozy. How do they do that?! The bar is stunning with a ton of seating and you can see into the kitchen behind a huge display of desserts.
The restaurant is large with a lot of long tables so it can definitely accommodate a group.
Menu
I’m a sucker for a good brunch spot and with a Greek twist, Kipos had me! Although the classic eggs benedict was delicious, I wish I had ordered a more traditional Greek plate. My son got the Keftedes (beef meatballs) with Eggs and he said it was excellent. The lamb sammies were a big hit too! My favorite thing might have been the Meze Trio with Pita, as to be expected :)
There is so much more to explore on the other menus too. We really enjoyed brunch but if I’m being honest I think the dinner menu looks even better! The wood-fired lamb chops or the Branzino….chef’s kiss!
Drinks
My husband had a traditional Bloody Mary and I had The Awakening, a yummy espresso cocktail. Both were terrific! The wine and beer selection was on point too!
Give Kipos a Try!
If you live in or around Chapel Hill, I highly recommend Kipos Greek Taverna. I wish we could have tried everything on the menu, especially a dessert but we were too full, so we will be going back for sure!
